Muhuroni residents are still smarting themselves from a recent shocking incident in which the area MP duped a bereaved family in mortuary bill payment.
James Onyango Koyoo, a first timer in the August house had initially pledged to handle the mortuary bill when the bereaved family approached him with the sad news of the death of their son.
According to one of the family members, frantic attempts to reach the
MP on phone on the material day of body collection bore no fruits as his
phone went unanswered.
‘’We tried reaching him on phone on the
eve of going to the mortuary but he never picked, however we never
sensed anything sinister until the following day when he continued to
ignore our calls even at the time we texted him and told him we were
already at the mortuary’’, he said.
The stranded family
accompanied by other villagers to the mortuary was forced to organize an
impromptu harambee at the premises.
They later contacted other
local leaders including Kisumu County Majority leader Onyango Ong’ow
after the harambee collection failed to realize the bill.
