KISUMU Women representative Rose
Nyamunga has furiously reacted to a global shocking story in which a married
Kenyan MP attempted to rape his female counterpart during President Uhuru
Kenyatta trip to Japan.
Speaking to press on phone Nyamunga
condemned the ugly incident coming at a time numerous male MPs have been
accused of meting sexual assaults against vulnerable women.
‘Women should be respected and I personally
call upon relevant authorities to quickly swing into action in ensuring that
the MP is punished for such inhuman act’’, she posed adding that should the MP
go unpunished then it would be impossible for women to attend such trips with
their male colleagues.
Turbo MP Elisha Busienei sent a
barrage of messages to an internal platform Whatsup used by MPs, giving details
of how her colleague attempted to solicit sex from her.
Joyce Lay, the woman representative
of Taita Taveta County, has accused randy MP of insulting her after she
allegedly declined his sexual advances at their hotel in Japan.
Ms Lay, who was among a group of MPs
drawn from the National Assembly Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations who traveled to Japan with President Uhuru Kenyatta, said the MP called her
"useless" after she turned down his advances.
The woman representative is accusing
the hyena, a first term legislator from Rift Valley region, of manhandling her
in her hotel room last Wednesday night.
"I have reported the matter to the
committee and the committee chair, plus the leader of the delegation will
handle it later," Lay told this writer.
SCOOPDESK is in possession of
communication between the committee members in a WhatsApp chat group where
chairman Ndung'u Gethenji (Tetu) is pleading with members not to use that
platform to address Lay's complaints.
According to reliable sources the
matter has resulted into a serious friction between the MP and his wife who is reportedly
contemplating an immediate divorce pending consultation with her friends and
family members.
